Bach Flower Remedies
What are they?
The Bach Flower Remedies are a system of flower essences discovered by Dr Edward Bach in 1930s in the UK. Dr Bach was a Harley Street doctor who also worked at University College Hospital and was a Bacteriologist. 38 flower remedies are used to balance negative emotions such as anger, resentment, hate, jealousy, shame, anxiety etc. Dr Bach believed that by addressing negative emotional states and making healthy lifestyle choices that we can help to prevent more serious illness and re-balance the emotions. These gentle, energetic essences can be used with babies, children and pets. Many people all over the world have heard of and use Rescue Remedy to good effect to help with the aftereffects of shock, accident and injury.
Quantum physics has shown us that we are not just biological, biochemical organisms but bio-energetic and electrical beings too. All matter in the universe is made up of energy including our thoughts and emotions which resonate at different frequencies. Negative emotions are thought to be lower in frequency. Thoughts are constantly in motion – emotion. We need to learn to listen better to our emotions/feelings and what they are trying to tell us. and not to distract ourselves because we do not like what we see. A lot of the time we may not even know what we are thinking or feeling. The remedies help us to become much more in tune with ourselves and our relationships to others.
How the remedies are made
Dr Bach wanted to use a simple method of extracting the healing properties of the flowers using the 4 elements earth, air, water and the heat of the sun (fire). A few blooms of the chosen flower heads are placed in a glass bowl filled with water and left standing in sunlight for several hours or using the boiling method of extraction.
